GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – The 19-year-old woman charged in a deadly Green Bay fire in 2019 posts her cash bond on Tuesday.
As we reported last week, a Brown County judge drastically lowered bond for a young woman accused of first-degree intentional homicide.
Marcelia Fonseca’s first jury trial ended with a hung jury last year. Fonseca, who is now 19-years old, faces two felonies including first-degree intentional homicide and arson.
The prosecution argued she intentionally set the fire that killed her 11-month-old nephew in June of 2019 in Green Bay. Fonseca’s defense attorneys blamed the faulty wiring in the house.
Since the hung jury in October, Fonseca has been in the custody of the sheriff’s office, while her case plays out in court.
Monday, Fonseca’s defense attorneys argued for a reduction in bond due to another delay. The prosecution opposed it due to the nature of the accused crime.
The victim’s parents both addressed the court.
