SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – Middle school and high school students were able to learn more about financial literacy while having some fun this week.
Junior Achievement of South Dakota brought JA Finance Park to students on Thursday.
It’s an immersive experience that starts in the classroom with students spending multiple weeks learning the basics like income, taxes, saving and budgeting.
Then, they visit a pop-up, simulated city and engage with volunteers while making decisions including housing, groceries, basic utilities, insurance, savings and vacation options.
”It’s so important to learn because this is all stuff we’re going to need in our future, especially if we have kids or pets or if we’re married. We’re going to have to know how to put that in our savings,” said Kyler DeSchepper.
