Sheriff: Suspect dead after shootout with deputies in Mooresville neighborhood [Video]

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) – A suspect was found dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a shootout with deputies in a Mooresville neighborhood on Saturday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

The deceased suspect, identified as 27-year-old Dylan Maslon, was out on bond with the following charges pending in court:

• Assault on a governmental official
• Felony breaking or entering to terrorize or injure

The situation was resolved around noon, and neighbors tell us the incident unfolded around 7:40 a.m. along Langtree Road, just off Interstate 77.

“I was hearing a ‘pop pop pop’ noise and didn’t really know what it was. And one of my neighbors stopped and told me that there was an active shooter in the neighborhood. And he was barricaded in the house having a shootout with the police,” said Bridgeport Neighborhood Resident Steve Kierstead.
