Section VII girls’ flag football is gearing up for its first sectional playoffs starting on Thursday, May 9, but one team has already clinched the top spot. Saranac High School capped off its season in 2024 with a 6-0 victory over Northeastern Clinton Central High School, giving them an 8-0 undefeated record with the first seed in the upcoming playoffs. “It helps finishing off undefeated because we are regular season champions and we get the bye,” said Saranac freshman Lily Brown. “We get more time to practice, and we can just bond more with the team.”The first meeting between the two teams was a high scoring 41-23 affair in favor of Saranac, but the second meeting was the opposite. A timely rushing touchdown from Spartan quarterback McHenna Brown was the only score of the game.
