Omaha building owner suing state after being denied grant money [Video]

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Sitting at the southern gateway to the North 24th Street business corridor in Omaha, a century-old building could play a part in future economic growth.

“Bring in the customers we need to come in to supply jobs, number one,” said project advisor Larry Williams. “Good paying jobs.”

But work needs to be done on the building from the top floor down to the bottom, and while owner Jonathan Nash says he’s invested $65,000 so far, engineers say more is needed.

“Make a good faith effort to make it according to code like it should be,” Williams said.

That’s why Nash’s North O Rising corporation applied for $700,000 in state economic development month. Engineers report repairs and replacements have already been planned out, but that grant money is needed to make sure the job gets done.
