Kia’s upcoming Tasman ute is billed as the brand’s “most Australian product ever”, so how better to promote it than with a star-studded TV ad filled with Aussie sporting icons?

The South Korean car giant is promoting its Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger rival with a television ad that playfully teases the name of the upcoming model.

While various Easter eggs littered throughout the almost two-minute-long commercial confirm the Tasman moniker, the ad doesn’t actually feature the car itself.

Instead, the various sporting icons suggest the new Kia ute should be named after them – from the ‘Kia Buddy’ (AFL player Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin) to the ‘Kia Aloisi’ (soccer star John Aloisi).
