Engineering profession is seeing a shortage of workforce and expects the demand to only grow [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) — According to the American Council of Engineering Companies, the engineering and design industry is responsible for 1.5 million jobs. The average salary across the country is $97,300, but it is a career field experiencing a shortage.

There isn’t a part of our lives that an engineer hasn’t touched. From roads to electrical and plumbing in homes and buildings, all have been designed with the help of engineers.

“Engineering isn’t going anywhere; like you said, everything we touch has engineering,” says Dr. Theresa A. Odun-Ayo, the Program Director at the Missouri State Cooperative Engineering Program.
