Winooski Main Street Revitalization Project Leaders meet with the public ahead of construction [Video]

Major construction is set to get underway for one of Winooski’s busiest streets.The Main Street Revitalization project is the third road construction initiative that will impact Onion City in the next few years.This is in addition to the Diverging Diamond Interchange and the Burlington-Winooski Bridge project.Wednesday night, there was a public meeting for community members to ask project leaders their questions. While many at the meeting said they were in support of the project, they had questions about the short-term implications, such as what traffic would look like and how that will impact access to homes and local businesses. The approximately $28.07 million dollar project received a voter-approved bond in 2018.Project leaders said they would make improvements to sidewalks and bike lanes, upgrade traffic signal equipment, and make street lighting and landscaping enhancements.There will also be subsurface level upgrades like stormwater, sewer, and water improvements.In addition, they’ll be relocating underground …
