Water outage in Plaquemines Parish-area, Belle Chase Bridge closure after AT&T workers damaged water line officials say [Video]

NEW ORLEANS — A Plaquemines Parish neighborhood is without water service and the Belle Chasse Draw Bridge is closed after officials say AT&T workers damaged a water line.

The old Belle Chasse Draw Bridge was temporarily closed to vehicle traffic so that Inframark workers could make repairs to the water line. 

This impacts the Fort Saint Leon Subdivision and portions of the Engineers Road area officials said in a social media post.

The new Belle Chasse Bridge was also temporarily changed to accommodate two-way traffic as an alternative route.  The new Belle Chase Bridge returned to its original traffic flow. The water leak didn’t appear to directly impact traffic through any sort of street flooding.

On Wednesday, Plaquemines Parish officials said that the water line was damaged by AT&T workers digging under Hwy 23 near Planters Canal Road.
