TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Service and dedication – two key principles the Liby family sticks to every day. Staff Sergeant Christopher Liby applied these principles every day during his time in the US Army.
“It was something I loved to do, serving the country,” Sgt. Liby said. “It was something I love to do, chose to do.”
Even in times of crisis, Liby prevailed.
While serving in Afghanistan in 2008, Liby and his team were attacked by an IED. But rather than running away from the fire and despite his injuries, Liby ran back to save his fellow soldiers but sustained long-term injuries like permanent nerve damage and degenerative disk disease.
He earned a Purple Heart for his bravery, so when it came time to apply for a home, letters of support came right in.
