Unplugged weddings: What are they, and what are the benefits and downsides? [Video]

Imagine it’s your big day. After many months of planning and years of imagining yourself walking down the aisle, you have married the love of your life.

But before you’ve even posed for your very expensive wedding photos, a guest has shared a snap of your big day on social media. And you don’t even like the photo!

It’s little wonder brides and grooms are embracing the trend of ‘unplugged weddings’, where guests are asked to put away their phones.

An exclusive Nine.com.au reader poll recently asked: “Do you think unplugged weddings should be more common?”

Of the 578 respondents, 65 per cent said ‘yes’, while only 14 per cent said ‘no’. The remaining 21 per cent said they did not use their phone at a wedding anyway.
