Bart Ortiz Sr. has been the owner of Tex & Shirley’s for 35 years, now with his impending retirement, the location in High Point will become a Cagney’s Kitchen.
HIGH POINT, N.C. — It’s the end of an era.
“I wanna take a couple of days off and just rest. I feel like I need a good rest,” laughed Bart Ortiz Sr.
After 35 years as owner of Tex & Shirley’s, Ortiz is saying goodbye to the pancakes and to the people.
“Tex & Shirley’s has been a true blessing to all of us,” exclaimed one loyal patron.
“It’s very tough to tell him goodbye and we don’t want ot see him go but we’re very happy for his retirement,” said an employee who has been with the company for 17 years when her mother first worked there.
