Suspect in DeKalb County gas station shootout was out on bond in 2020 murder case, records show [Video]

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A man accused in the shooting of three bystanders at a DeKalb County gas station will remain behind bars for another two weeks, a judge ruled Thursday.

Darius Morris, 34, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault in connection to the incident.

At the time of his arrest, Morris was out of jail on bond in a 2020 murder case, according to court records. Detectives said he was involved in a gunfight that ended in the death of his girlfriend. Records show he was released on bond in that case a couple of months after his arrest.

During Morris’ first court appearance in Tuesday night’s shooting on Candler Road, a judge set a bond hearing date for early May. He was ordered to remain in jail until then.

Surveillance videoshowed the moment the gunfight broke out between two groups in the parking lot of a Circle K Tuesday evening. Police said three bystanders were caught in the crossfire. …
