Shohei Ohtani addresses former interpreters’ sports gambling scandal [Video]

PHOENIX (AZFamily)— The Arizona Diamondbacks’ opening day is a few days away, and one of the Snakes’ biggest rivals is starting the season with some controversy.

The league’s top-paid player, Shohei Ohtani with the Los Angeles Dodgers, addressed the media Monday about reports his former interpreter stole money from him to settle gambling debts.

“On a personal note I am very sad and shock that someone I trusted had done this,” said Ohtani.

The baseball player was once recently in the headlines for his massive 10-year $700 million contract but is now back in the spotlight with a new interpreter after his former one was accused of stealing his money to pay off gambling debts.

“I never bet on baseball or any other sports. I have never asked anybody to do so on my behalf,” said Ohtani.

CNN reported more than $4.5 million was wired out of Ohtani’s bank account.
