History of the Bay Podcast Ep. 57: In his first on-camera interview, Shemp of Photo Doctor Graphics reviews prints and posters from his portfolio of legendary album cover designs. Starting off as a rapper-producer in the Funky Fresh Sex Crew, he began designing covers for his friends using scanners and copy machines. This led him to work with Don Toriano of Fully Loaded, San Quinn, and Done Deal Entertainment. Inspired by early Bay rap covers, Oakland’s Phunky Phat Graph-X, and especially Pen & Pixel, Shemp soon became the most in-demand graphic designer in the Bay. He has worked with Mac Dre, E-40, Berner, Messy Marv, Jacka, and many more.
