Serena Williams gets superpowers in teaser trailer for her ‘favorite’ Netflix series [Video]

Netflix is pulling out all the stops for its live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender and its latest teaser features an appearance from sporting legend Serena Williams.

In a final marketing push ahead of Avatar: The Last Airbender’s arrival on February 22, Netflix has released a last-minute teaser for the series.

However, rather than simply featuring the traditional montage of clips from the show itself, the trailer instead shows tennis legend Serena Williams practicing her serve as she starts to enter ‘Avatar State’ and develops Avatar-themed superpowers.

A glowing blue arrow appears on her forehead along with glowing eyes and as she serves, she leaps high into the air before smashing the ball – which ignites – back towards the ground where it becomes embedded in the court, leaving a watching ball girl speechless.

Serena Williams’ love affair with Avatar: The Last Airbender dates back to the original Nickelodeon show.
