Omaha nonprofit helping new, expecting mothers build supportive network [Video]

That’s what happened at the Momma’s Night Out event at Assembly of the Saints Church Saturday night.

The Omaha chapter of the nonprofit group Shaping Equitable Reproductive Outcomes (SHERO), hosted it as part of its efforts to help new and expecting mothers to forge bonds with each other and build a supportive network.

“The network of support for an expecting mom is the most important part of her pregnancy to get her through over all the hurdles,” said SHERO Omaha director Buffy Bush.

SHERO also helps guide expecting mothers through doctors appointments, asking the right prenatal questions, and getting resources they need.

“They’re really supportive, as far as helping you with diapers, wipes, clothes—anything that you need—and just giving you good words of encouragement,” said Markeshia Devers, who started getting help from SHERO in January.
