No evidence to support speculation of foul play in Riley Strain disappearance, police say [Video]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Nashville investigators say there has been no evidence to support ongoing speculation across social media that missing college student Riley Strain was being followed or chased on the night of his disappearance.

Metro Nashville police Sgt. Robert Nielsen said claims made on social media that suggest foul play have been unfounded and dispelled by the video released by police on Monday, which shows Strain interacting with an officer investigating suspected car burglaries.

Strain does not appear distressed as he addresses the officer, Nielsen said, even exchanging greetings and saying, “I’m good.” The police department has been flooded with tips about the potential for foul play in the case but none that have been vetted have turned up any leads, Nielsen said.

Still, the investigation into Strain’s disappearance remains ongoing and tips are still welcomed.
