New app aims to help residents submit tips anonymously [Video]

WYNNE, Ark. (KAIT) – A new tool for the Wynne Police Department is hoping to make its town safer.

“WynneTip” launched last month, and it will allow residents to submit tips to its police department anonymously.

“It’s a great portal and a platform for the citizens to communicate directly and anonymously to the police department,” said Ana Stewart, patrolman with the Wynne Police Department.

Stewart said while residents have reached out to the department by phone or social media, they can’t stay anonymous. The app hopes to make it easier for residents to stay anonymous, and possibly make the department’s job easier.

“Before residents would also give us information about a suspicious vehicle maybe being in their area or suspicious person and without that image we may have been able to identify that image all we have is descriptive information,” she said.
