Montgomery college students weigh in on potential TikTok ban [Video]

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – It’s no secret that TikTok is popular, primarily among younger people.

Now, we’re hearing from local college students about the app’s possible ban.

They say banning TikTok is too extreme and would negatively impact the way younger generations communicate.

Several students on college campuses in Montgomery said they joined TikTok during the pandemic, searching for entertainment.

From hunting videos to beauty and lifestyle content to stand-up comedy, there are a variety of ways to use the app. Some even advertise on it.

“I have a small business, one could say. I sell lashes on campus and I have a website so I ship them, so I started making TikToks about my lashes,” said Morgan Tate, a student at Alabama State University.

Tate was able to make a profit from the page.
