‘Moms Market’ event to help support single parents [Video]

Mom’s Market is an event geared for mothers while supporting single parents in financial crisis. Mom’s Market will be taking place from noon to 5 p.m. on May 5 at Hazy Mountain Vineyard and Brewery in Afton.

This event is being held to help promote and raise money for Forward Foundation, an organization based in Richmond that helps support single parent families.

According to the foundation’s website, the goal of the organization is to foster resilience and financial independence, build community, gain valuable skills and bring awareness and advocate for the cause.

The Heart of Virginia Artisans is organizing the event and collaborating with the brewery.

Melissa Drake, director of communications and community engagement for Heart of Virginia Artisans, said the foundation has a good system in place for single-parent families in financial crisis.
