TUSKEGEE, Ala. (WSFA) – Legendary singer, songwriter, and TV personality Lionel Richie was back in his hometown of Tuskegee on Thursday to help cut the ribbon on a brand new park.
Hello Park, named after one of Richie’s biggest hits, sits right across from the campus of Tuskegee University. He graduated from the college back when it was called the Tuskegee Institute.
The park is more than nine months in the making and will serve as a gathering place for people to connect with nature.
Richie told a crowd of people that he hopes the park will bring more people to Tuskegee, not because of him, but because of the rich history that can be found in his hometown.
