JD Sports is facing a backlash for an advert posted on social media showing motorcyclists wearing Nike trainers.
The video shows men performing stunts such as wheelies wearing Nike Air Max 95s despite trainers being considered unsuitable footwear for riding a motorbike.
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has received more than 40 complaints over the video and motorcycle groups have criticised it for promoting ‘inappropriate’ footwear and ‘irresponsible’ riding.
There is a disclaimer at the bottom of the video that says: ‘Stunts are performed by professionals – do not try at home.’
Despite this, the retailer had to turn off the comments on the video as they were immediately flooded with criticism.
