It’ll take a few months to repair tornado damage in New Albany | News [Video]

NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) — It’ll take a few months for several government buildings in New Albany to be repaired following an EF-1 tornado.

The storm swept through the city Friday morning, March 15.

The storm damaged the Union County Chancery Clerk building and other buildings along East Main Street.

Emergency Management Director Curt Clayton estimates it’ll take two to three months to repair everything.

The storm also damaged the brand new New Albany Police Department.

“Since ’97 I’ve never seen a tornado even hit this section of town, ever,” Police Chief Chris Robertson said.

Rain can be blamed for some of the damage. This led to some rot.
