How A Divorced Mom Took A Risk And Created A Franchise

Episode Summary:

Tammy Rodgers started grooming dogs as a high school student seeking to earn extra cash. A local groomer showed her how to groom a poodle; the rest of her education came from reading books. Her dad acted as her business manager, helping her find clients. Fast forward to adulthood, Tammy went through a rough divorce and moved in with her parents. After working to find herself again, she decided to give the grooming business another try. Tammy worked for a local grooming shop for about a year before deciding that she could run a better grooming business on her own. Putting her customer service and relationship-building skills to work, Tammy opened  “Puparazzi,” a Hollywood-themed mobile grooming business, in 2010. She offers a first-class grooming experience for both pets and pet parents. In 2015, Tammy franchised the Puparazzi concept and now mentors her franchisees to help them establish their mobile grooming business.

Key Ideas:

Tammy invested in herself to start the business, using funds from a 401K obtained through her divorce settlement

Cultivating strong relationships with clients and showing empathy towards their concerns and complaints is a key success factor

Tammy can help her franchisees with all aspects of the business because she was a hands-on owner, with extensive knowledge and experience in the grooming industry.

Failure is a learning experience and an opportunity to grow

About Tammy:

Now with more than 40 years of pet grooming experience, Tammy Rodgers started her mobile grooming business back in 2010 during a bad economy. Still just as busy today as she was back then, her business has thrived. Tammy is a passionate groomer who can successfully groom any animal. The unique experience she provides keeps her loyal clients returning month after month for years.

Puparazzi came to be as Tammy sought to combine her love of family and her passion for pet grooming. With both children, now grown, having been in the movie and modeling industry at that time, the name Puparazzi seemed ideal!

As a passionate businesswoman, Tammy believes in her business concept, her commitment to mentor her franchisees and continues to strive to make Puparazzi a nationwide, if not a worldwide household name!

During the pandemic, many people wanted to support small businesses that weren’t big “chain” businesses. This bothered many because franchises are all locally owned and operated. The person who owns a franchise has their kids going to the same school, soccer games, and church; we are all neighbors in the community.

Franchises are small businesses right in our neighborhood.

Visions2images works with corporations, franchisors, and franchises with branding, website design and development, and digital marketing. Contact us for a free consultation.
