Grand Rapids Brewing Company catches fire downtown [Video]

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — No one was hurt after a fryer caught fire at Grand Rapids Brewing Company Friday afternoon, causing flames and heavy black smoke to fill the air and streets below with smoke. 

Michele Ary, the Brand Manager of BarFly, which is the parent company of Grand Rapids Brewing told 13 ON YOUR SIDE said the fryer in the basement caught on fire and it went up through the hood system which goes up to the roof. 

This happened around 4 p.m. 

Staff at HopCat then saw smoke coming into their hood systems, so they too evacuated and opened up their windows.
