GAME OVER! (WINNING WITH DIVIDEND STOCKS)

I believe it’s a lot easier to win the dividend game (retire off dividends) when stocks present value during a correcting stock market. I love these falling stock prices! Also, I’m excited to compare real estate investing vs. dividend stock investing (and REITS). Last, I have some fun life updates on my move from the Bay Area to Idaho. It’s a fun dividend vlog-style video today.

0:00 Introduction
0:25 TOPIC 1: FALLING SHARE PRICES
0:35 Falling share prices are great for dividend stock investors who care about passive income from dividends.
1:20 I used to feel upset when share prices fell. Now, I can truly enjoy the process of the market correcting.
2:03 Which investor receives more long-term joy and happiness in life? Dividend stock investors or total returns investors? Dividend investors win!
3:14 In a stock market like this, it’s easy to see why dividend investors experience more joy and happiness. I feel free. I’m not tied to my portfolio value.
4:17 I feel that dividend investing is more about having joy and satisfaction out of life. Dividend income can go up, even when markets are tanking.
5:03 It’s more motivating for the everyday person to see high passive income being reinvested.
5:36 WHY DIVIDENDS MATTER (IT’S NOT FORCED SELLING OF SHARES)
5:55 I’m buying Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) stock right now.
6:02 Dividends come from the company’s bank account. They allow me to keep the rest!
6:10 Selling a share of stock is selling everything that comprises a share. Only part of a company’s value is the cash they have in the bank.
7:02 I don’t need to sell off the part of the share that is producing cash flow.
7:45 TOPIC 2: DIVIDENDS VS. REAL ESTATE (Which is better?)
8:35 I vastly prefer dividend stocks and REITS.
8:45 Dividend stocks are TRUE passive income. Real estate is super active.
8:54 Even if you’re an owner, you cannot delegate everything. You’re going to be a hands-on owner, if you want the enterprise to succeed.
9:40 Buildings are living entities. They require a ton of work.
10:12 I know from my personal experience that dividends (and REITS) are truly passive.
10:38 Of course, there are some great benefits with real estate, such as accelerated depreciation.
11:30 These days, leverage is more difficult in real estate.
12:00 It’s very hard work. I’ve worked harder than I’ve ever worked in my career.
12:55 Be wary of “get rich quick” in real estate. There is no get rich quick. Times have changed. The numbers syndicators promise are not always reality.
13:54 I love Realty Income (O). I think the rate of return is great, and rivals a lot of direct, syndication opportunities.
14:10 TOPIC 3: MOVING FROM THE SF BAY AREA TO BOISE, IDAHO
14:26 What do I miss about the Bay Area?
15:26 What has life been like in Idaho? It’s been a HUGE win.
15:49 Our personal finances are in better shape.
17:15 Dividend investors, don’t forget to consider geo-arbitrage.
17:56 DISCLOSURE AND DISCLAIMER
