However, one place stands out as the fifth best-value destination in the world for 2024 by Post Office Travel Money, making it Europe’s cheapest.

Famous for its stunning coastline and beautiful beaches, Algarve, in Portugal, is a great budget destination brimming with activities to do and sights to see.

Based on the findings of the brand’s Worldwide Holiday Costs Barometer, the Algarve offers better value for money compared to other European destinations like Marmaris in Turkey and Sunny Beach in Bulgaria, both of which have experienced price increases over the past year.

Examining the prices of eight commonly purchased items, the report reveals that a cup of filter coffee costs only 88p in the Algarve, while a local beer is priced at £2.20 and a glass of wine at £1.76.
