DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – There’s a new leader for Durham Public Schools as the district announced former Wake County Superintendent Catty Moore as the new Interim Superintendent at a meeting on Thursday night.
Speaking with CBS 17 on Friday evening, Moore discussed why she came out of retirement temporarily.
“It’s been over six months,” she said. “Durham is a neighbor of Wake, where I spent most of my career. And I’m happy to help bridge the transition to their next superintendent.”
Moore’s hiring comes after former Superintendent Dr. Pascal Mubenga’s resignation on Wednesday, the same day a report came out showing he knew pay raises would set the district over budget but went ahead with them anyway.
“I know that they’re in a situation right now where they need someone to help build a bridge to the next superintendent and I’m hopeful that I can serve in that role for them,” Moore said.
