Colorado man facing child abuse charges related to a babys death in 2023 released from custody on PR bond [Video]

FREMONT COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) – After nearly 11 months in custody, a Colorado man facing child abuse charges related to the death of a baby in Canon City in May 2023 was released on a PR bond Tuesday afternoon.

During a court appearance for William Jacobs on Tuesday in Fremont County, a judge ruled to change Jacobs’ $100,000 cash bond to a no-cost PR bond, with stipulations of GPS monitoring and protection orders put in place for those impacted most directly by the case.

Jacobs was arrested last May following the death of his girlfriend’s 10-month-old child, according to police. The infant, Edward Hayes, was located unconscious in a motel before being flown to a Colorado Springs hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, after what police described as a “tragic” case of child abuse.
