Clive Myrie has broken his silence on rumours he is set to replace Huw Edwards following his resignation from the BBC.

The corporation announced that Edwards, 62, would not be returning to his position on medical advice, nine months after he was suspended.

Myrie is now the favourite to replace him as the anchor on BBC News at Ten.

Myrie was quizzed on the rumours by Richard Madeley when he appeared on Good Morning Britain today (25 April).

He said: “Huw had a distinguished career. He’s resigned and that is something that he felt he had to do and it is regrettable. The point now is to move forward.”

Madeley asked: “Does this mean you are getting his job?”
