City of Alabaster approves new ‘District 31’ shopping development [Video]

A new destination for many shoppers is coming to Alabaster.The city of Alabaster announced March 25 that Alumni Properties & Parkes Development Group will soon begin construction of the new “District 31” retail center.The shopping development will be located in the northwest quadrant of Highway 31 and Interstate 65.The $242 million investment will feature seven anchor stores, 15 to 20 service and boutique-style shops, more than 10 restaurants and several office suites, and more.“We’re so excited to see the highly anticipated District 31 development coming to fruition. This will further cement Alabaster’s status as a regional shopping destination while generating millions in additional tax revenue to support Alabaster schools, infrastructure and public services,” said Alabaster Mayor Scott Brakefield. “This development will include many retailers and restaurants our residents have been requesting for years.”The city also said the developer will also make road improvements to Highway 31 and 9th Avenue Southeast, …
