Bond set for Ladson man on sexual exploitation, registry violation charges [Video]

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCSC) – A judge set bond for a Ladson man facing nine charges who was arrested by Berkeley County deputies after a joint investigation.

Charles Anthony Garris, 55, is charged with eight counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of a sex offender registry violation, according to jail records.

Deputies and investigators from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted a search warrant at a home on Craven Road prompted by CyberTips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and a preliminary investigation by the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, Berkeley County Cpl. Carly Drayton said.

The investigation identified Garris, who is currently on the Berkeley County Sex Offender Registry, as the suspect who was sending and receiving child sexual abuse material, Drayton said.

A judge set bond at $402,100 for the nine charges.
