BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Birmingham City Schools financial literacy program is seeing positive results from more than just the kids in the classroom.
The program’s organizer says they’re getting great reception from elementary, middle, and high school students, but they aren’t the only ones benefitting from the curriculum.
Birmingham’s Financial Freedom Project has been in place since October of 2022 and teaches students how to manage finances with activities and games, while also providing opportunities for counseling and education for Birmingham educators and parents.
Program leaders say they’re also seeing great results with the adults participating as well, such as people being able to pay off student loan debts. In fact, the program has gotten high demand for one on one consultations with faculty, staff, and parents.
