“Startup Maine Week” offers guidance that should make a launch smoother.

PORTLAND, Maine — Being an entrepreneur isn’t easy. If it were, a lot more people would be starting businesses.

So if you’re interested in launching a business of your own, where can you turn for help?

The short answer, at least right now, is “Startup Maine Week,” which runs from May 14 to 17 and features panel discussions, workshops, and networking events. They’ll cover many of the nuts and bolts of challenges aspiring entrepreneurs face—fundraising, marketing, tech support, hiring, and more.

All the events are in Portland. Admission for all four days is $39 for adults and $10 for students.

Katie Shorey, the president of Startup Maine, talked with us on 207 about next week’s events and what entrepreneurs might get out of them. She was joined by Helen Cohen, co-founder and CEO of a business called ReachMyTeach, who’ll deliver the keynote address.
