CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The White Sox have fired manager Pedro Grifol.
The club announced the move in a post to social media this morning.
“As we all recognize, our team’s performance this season has been disappointing on many levels,” said White Sox General Manager Chris Getz in a statement.”Despite the on-field struggles and lack of success, we appreciate the effort and professionalism Pedro and the staff brought to the ballpark every day. These two seasons have been very challenging. Unfortunately, the results were not there, and a change is necessary as we look to our future and the development of a new energy around the team.”
The dismissal comes as the Sox are in the midst of a historically futile season, earning a 28-89 record through the first 117 games and most recently losing an American League record 21 games in a row.
Grifol was in the midst of his second season as skipper. He was hired in November of 2022 …
