1 dead after shooting on 10th Avenue, Decatur police investigating [Video]

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — Officers with the Decatur Police Department (DPD) are investigating a shooting where one man was killed on Wednesday.

DPD says the scene of the shooting is in the 900 block of 10th Avenue.

One victim, a man, was located and transported to a local hospital, police said. He later died from his injuries.

“The Special Services Alternative Center on Church St. has been placed on secure perimeter at this time. @DecaturCityEdu [Dectaur City Schools] is conducting a controlled release,” DPD posted on social media.

At 4:20 p.m., DPD said the scene was cleared and 10th Avenue was reopened.

The investigation is ongoing, and officials are asking people to avoid the area at this time.
