Worlds largest disc golf tournament returns to Central Illinois [Video]

PEORIA (25News Now) – Thousands of disc golf spectators will watch the world’s best players compete in Central Illinois at the 2024 Ledgestone Open.

2,500 professional and amateur players from across the world will compete at 15 courses in the Peoria and Bloomington-Normal areas.

It is the largest disc golf tournament in the world for the fourth consecutive year.

Tournament Director Nate Heinold said the economic impact is more than $2 million for local hotels, restaurants and businesses.

“Disc golf has essentially tripled in the last four years in terms of how many people are playing the sport,” Heinold said. “I think seeing that growth and helping fuel that with the courses we keep adding here is really making Central Illinois a disc golf destination.”

Both the men’s and women’s pro divisions will happen from Aug. 1-4. The men will play at Lake Eureka Park and the women at Sunset Hills in Pekin.
