MADISON COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – The North Carolina Highway Patrol said a wanted suspect is dead following a crash that also killed a former police chief on Friday.
According to Highway Patrol, Ryan Ricky Houston was driving a stolen 2019 Jaguar.
Houston was traveling the wrong way on I-26 when his vehicle collided with recently retired police Chief Mike Boone, troopers say.
Officials say the vehicles collided head-on near exit 11.
Houston is wanted out of McDowell County following a home invasion that happened last week. He was also in another crash with a woman who was found in the vehicle stabbed to death on Thursday, August 1.
