Virginia Beach investigates social media threat to city schools [Video]

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Beach City Public Schools is investigating a social media threat, according to a message sent to school district families Wednesday morning.

A student reported “an inappropriate post on social media that implied a threat” to city schools, the message stated. Now, school division leadership is looking into the matter, alongside the city’s Office of Security and Emergency Management and the Virginia Beach Police Department. 

The division told parents that it does not believe there is a “credible threat” to school safety currently, and urged families to ensure their children are careful and intentional about what they post online.
