PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The U.S. Department of State announced Wednesday that its new online passport renewal system is now fully accessible to the public.
This new process will save time and effort by allowing travelers to renew their passports online. Before, travelers had to print out a paper application and mail it in with a check.
The State Department says it is embracing digital transformation to offer the most efficient and convenient passport renewal experience possible.
Passports can now be processed is being processed in one-third of the time it took last summer — well under the advertised six to eight weeks processing time.
