The change is in honor of Global Park(ing) Day.
TYLER, Texas — Students at the Tyler ISD Career & Technology Center celebrated Global Park(ing) Day Thursday by decorating the buildings’ parking spaces in their own way.
About 75 students participated in the event that is designed to promote safer and greener spaces. Together, they redesigned 15 parking spots in their own image.
The local restaurant Chili’s, along with Tyler ISD staff will judge the creations.
Global Parking Day is celebrated across the United States and Europe, but was born in San Francisco after a group found out it was not illegal to put items other than cars in parking spaces. This sparked the idea of trying to find other ways to fill the parking lots, sparking the idea for the global holiday.
