Tuscaloosa Police are warning the public after a post circulating on social media is handing out a false phone number for the organization’s reporting line.

According to a social media post, this number appears to be a scam that requests the caller’s phone number before asking for personal information.

If you need to contact TPD, call 911 for emergencies or 205-349-2121 for non-emergencies. When in doubt about the correct phone number, go to the City of Tuscaloosa’s website and find it on TPD’s page or call 311 and ask to be connected to TPD.

For those needing to file a police report, you can also do so by going to TPD Headquarters, 3801 Trevor S. Phillips Ave. in Tuscaloosa, or through TPD’s mobile app available on Apple or Android devices.
