Traffic improvements underway in De Soto as city braces for influx of drivers [Video]

DE SOTO, Kan. (KCTV) – DeSoto is expecting more people on its roads very soon and traffic improvement projects are underway to get prepared.

“I’ve been here four years and the four years I’ve worked here, I’ve noticed traffic’s gone up quite a bit because of the Panasonic plant,” said Mike’s Liquor store manager Sean Englehart.

The liquor store overlooks the Lexington Avenue intersection. Englehart said he’s witnessed the growth from right outside his window. The store is located adjacent to the Panasonic electric vehicle battery plant and he’s already been receiving business from construction workers.

“This intersection is like one of the main artery choke points of this town. You’ve got K-10 right here, and we’ve got multiple. We’ve got three warehouses in town, counting four now with Panasonic coming in so all the semis get off at this exit,” said Englehart.
