Special Committee does not recommend impeachment for Franklin County Sheriff John Grismore [Video]

A special committee tasked with investigating potential misconduct by Franklin County Sheriff John Grismore has voted not to pursue impeachment against the embattled law enforcement official.The House Special Committee on Impeachment Inquiry met again on Monday, and filed a House resolution which does not recommend that further punitive action be taken against Grismore.”While this legislative body does not find articles of impeachment to be appropriate at this time, this legislative body urges Mr. Grismore to resign from the Office of Franklin County Sheriff for the good of the people of Franklin County,” the resolution reads.The resolution was unanimously approved by the committee during their meeting.The committee was formed in 2023 to investigate potential misconduct by Sheriff Grismore before he took office, including a highly-public incident in 2022 in which then-deputy Grismore kicked a shackled detainee multiple times.The committee was also tasked with investigating potential mismanagement of the Sheriff’s Office funds, …
