Snap counts, PFF grades: Lions see growth in pass protection from reserve OL [Video]

Dan Campbell made sure to give his reserve offensive linemen some love after the Detroit Lions beat the Kansas City Chiefs 24-23 at the buzzer in their second preseason game. The reviews and numbers in pass protection were impressive, with Colby Sorsdal and Giovanni Manu showing signs of growth.

Sorsdal played every offensive snap at right tackle. Manu, the massive third-round rookie, handled 40 snaps at left tackle. The pair combined to allow no pressures, hits, hurries or sacks in the exhibition win.

“The O-line really throughout that whole game — that’s some of the best protection that you can have,” the Lions head coach said in Kansas City. “I mean, start to finish. Our quarterbacks weren’t touched. We had plenty of time to execute, and we did enough to pull that one out. Anyways, proud of these guys.”
