Smoke billows from park as children’s playground set on fire again [Video]

Residents in Caerau are furious that a local children’s park has been once again set alight. Videos shared on social media show how the rubber area under the swing set on Church Road became engulfed in flames, with one of the swings even catching fire on Friday, July 19.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service has determined that the cause of the fire was deliberate. This is not the first time the park has been targeted using arson. On July 1, similar scenes occurred when the fire service were called to a blaze in the park and its surrounding green space after 10pm.

A FOI request revealed that in the two-year period from when the park opened in September 2021 to September 2023, SWFRS attended 19 incidents at the park. A resident who lives near the park has taken photos each time the fire service have been called, which they say has been at least …
