The search for the two men who were swept away after attempting to cross a flooded bridge in Klipheuwel has entered its fifth day.
Footage of the red VW Polo trying to cross a flooded low-level bridge near Mikpunt circulated on social media. Despite rescue services recovering the vehicle in Mosselbank River the men remain missing.
A video of the incident shows the VW Polo attempting to cross the bridge, after a brief pause, while other motorists turn around. The vehicle was swept away almost immediately after driving onto the bridge.
The police have urged anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
The worst of the rain seems to have passed, but the Western Cape is still reeling from the recent storms with clean-up and repair operations continuing across the province.
