Schwans plant in Florence evacuated due to ammonia leak [Video]

FLORENCE, Ky. (WXIX) – Emergency crews are on the scene of an ammonia leak in Boone County.

Boone County Sheriff’s deputies say they first got a call around 10 a.m. about a leak at Schwan’s on Empire Drive in Florence.

County emergency crews, Florence firefighters and hazmat teams remain on the scene.

They are calling it a small leak and it is contained to the building.

Emergency crews say everyone inside was evacuated as a safety measure.

No one was hurt.

Deputies say they don’t believe there is a threat to the public at this point.

Schwan’s is behind brands like Tony’s, Red Baron, Mrs. Smiths’, Edwards, and Pagoda.
