S. Bibb residents concerned about speeding in residential areas [Video]

Macon-Bibb Commissioner Raymond Wilder is advocating for increased police patrols amid ongoing issues with speedy drivers.

MACON, Ga. — With the start of a new school year, Bibb County is monitoring drivers’ speeds in school zones.

On Sunday, commissioner Raymond Wilder took to social media to share his own experience on his way to church with his family.

He says a speeding car passed his truck on Bethel Church, a two-way residential road, and passed additional cars ahead of them.

Wilder says this is just one instance of speeding in the area that’s experienced this issue for years.

“That’s just one [example] of a lot that happens out right here in this stretch…Mount Pleasant, Bethel church, Dixon Road… they drive ridiculous out here,” Wilder said.

Macon-Bibb Commissioners were allocated $30,000 for public safety efforts at the start of this year.
